I am gonna make it through this week if it kills me

Thank you all so much for your kind thoughts and comments. You all, seriously, rock the casbah.

My little shack is still standing(for now).
This fire is half an hour away.

The heatwave and the fires continue.

In fact, it has been so hot, the Australian Bureau of Meteorology has had to add two new colours to the temperature chart, to now reach a maximum of 54 degrees.

I am having the Weirdest Week Ever...

It's been a shocker at work...  we are all working 10, 12, 14 hour days, there have been loads of dramas, bad news and illness... including me, puking in Parliament House this morning at a work function. Yep. Because I'm a professional.

My insomnia continues, unchanged.

I've been stalked by a super creepy dude who. has. my. phone. number. Frankly, I am just not in the mood to be stalked this week and I will knock his last three remaining teeth right from his head if he doesn't leave me the fuck alone.

If the weather holds, I'm planning to drive down to my shack on Saturday, to deliver my vintage velvet sofa and to pick up the valuable things: my collection of family photos and my Mama's wedding dress. Everything else is replaceable, and while I would be sad to lose my shack, frocks, books and other vintage junk, losing my photograph collection would be a really terrible loss for me and my little family, so I need to bring them to safety. It will be a long, hot day in the car and totally worth it.

And the icing on the cake...

This evening as I left work I found this under my windscreen wiper (right next to the brand new - and apparently invisible - parking label)

I've prepared a response for the parking police, which I shall send them in the morning:

And in the meantime, let's admire my spectacular 6am hair. I couldn't resist a half asleep phone selfie this morning...

My mental health plan: get through the next few days on autopilot, then spend Sunday on the couch, eating chocolate ice cream and watching Edward Scissorhands, crying my fucking head off. Anyone care to join me?

Sarah, I am so sorry you are having to deal with this. The first picture you posted of the fire is chilling. Be careful of the stalker-too many weirdos out there now. Even with all the crapola going on in your life you're still able to keep your sense of humor. That is wonderful! Things will turn around and get better soon.

Oh honey huge hugs. What a shit of a week, with worry and sickness and dramas and holey heck a stalker. I pray to whoever that your woes ease and that these damn awful fires quell. I can imagine to worry at the moment my husband and his family went through Ash Wednesday, stay safe, kick stalkers arses and be kind to yourself. Sending healing vibes.

Sarah, you haven't left my thoughts all week and I'm so sorry it's been a shit week for you. Praying your home is safe and that you are feeling better soon. Can you report this stalker to the police, so you can alleviate at least one stress from your life? I will happily join you, in spirit, on Sunday! xoxo

Wildfires and threats to your treasured home, creeping stalking dude, parking police, puking in Parli House ... all of it sucks seven shades of fucking shite. I do hope you retrieve your most treasured valuables sweetie. How weird you speak of puking and ice cream ... this morning I had a wee bit of the yummy stuff then promptly puked, which is SO weird for me, never happens! I reckon my soul was reaching out to my patchwork sista. Big hugs darlin! xoxoxoxoxo

oh jeeeeeeez..... your stamp telling life's Very Bad Things to Fuck Off is the perfect response to everything this week. Got all of my fingers triple-crossed for your shack, and that you can get there to get the photos.....but hope you don't have to risk the journey. Rain, ya hear me... go and rain all over Australia! 6am hair rocks - a text of that pic and a big F Off image might sort the stalker out, or is he that weird?;) Big hugs, stay safe and look after yerself xxx

What a pile of shitty bricks. For a start we in the UK cannot imagine what it must be like to have weather that hot and to have function in it properly, not to mention having it threaten our homes.
Fuck 'em all love and look after yourself. You know I'd be there like a shot if I could.
You are fabulous.

What a pile of shite you are going through right now. Saw the fires in NSW on the Beeb last night, just can't imagine how frightening it must be. Hope you manage to collect your treasures at the weekend. Can't believe the bastard police, at a time like this too! What total wankers. Stay safe. xx

Oh good lord! I can't even fathom 54 degrees! That's 129 in Fahrenheit! I thought we had it bad here in Texas when we hit 117 last year & it felt like the whole world was going to catch fire. It's a terrible thing, isn't it? To have to part out one's life into things they can afford to lose and things they really can't live without. And to have all that other stuff on top of it? Completely not fair to you!

We are having cool weather and lots of rain here. I'll try to send some to you. At least the rain.

You stay safe!

Sara said...

Oh what a terrible week! Hope you feel better and your home is safe, and I wish those temperatures cool down as soon as possible! :/

Be safe. Sounds like you're having the worse week ever. It'll end some, take care.

Oh God, what a hideous week for you Sarah. Sending my best positive vibes your way. Be careful driving down to your shack. Still thinking of you. xx

Oh man, the heat-wave, fire, puking, STALKER (so scary), your valuables-- I agree with you, just grab your pics & your mom's dress. Insomnia is the worst, I have it, too. Tickets are also the worst and that FUCK OFF stamp on it is just about the best thing ever. Like, ever, EVER.
Saturday will be here soon for you I hope <3

pastcaring said...

No, this week won't kill you. It will seriously piss you off and make you cry and feel helpless and exhausted and scared and angry. But you will survive, and you can tell this week to go, walk out the door, just turn around now cos you're not welcome anymore.
(Yeah, I get my all my words of wisdom and comfort from song lyrics - frankly, who doesn't?)

So this week, why don't you just fuck off? And take your heat and fires, your work drama and long long hours, your puking, insomnia, parking madness, and weird stalkers, take them all away with you.

And leave my darling friend to get some sleep, some ice cream, a box of tissues, and the biggest virtual hug in the world from me.

OK? OK! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I'm so sorry :( That's a whole lot happening at once...as the wife of a police officer, I will chime in with everyone else on taking precautions with the stalker. Be careful! I hope things look brighter tomorrow.

First off you have the cutest 6 a.m. hair and face I have ever seen!
I am glad your home is still safe. And I agree that everything other than family mementos and your valuables are replaceable.
Doesn't the stalker know unless he is Jake Gyllenhaal he doesn't stand a chance??? I MEAN REALLY "Get with the program buddy"
Take super good care of yourself Sarah.

Be extra careful going to your shack, Sarah. I've been thinking about you with all of the news coverage. I hope the week takes an uptick, too. You deserve a break for real.

Oh Sarah. The hot weather does strange things to the world. We have these beastly hot Santa Ana winds in So Cal that cause fire and make people and animals fricken' CA-RAZY!!! I hope everything will eventually turn out well for you. How could it not when in the midst of all this you have rainbow nails. That's what I call an optomist. I am sending cool sweet thoughts to you and a big messy voo doo spell to your idiot stalker!

Oh my gosh, what a bunch of horrid things going on at once for you! Stay strong, hon, you can do it.

I'm totally in - I love that movie. I'll bring a couple bottles of wine.

I'll be saying a prayer for you and everyone else in Australia. Growing up in Southern California, major fires where part of growing up. You come to expect them but they are still scary and nerve wrecking.

Man that is intense. I remember we once had a summer where the heat wave lasted for a week and it was 115 or 120 F. It was miserable and all of our hills burned up. It was scary and nerve wrecking.
I'll be saying a prayer for you and everyone else in Australia. I know I would be devastated if I lost all of my family photos. Please be careful and mind all the smoke and debris floating in the air.

Okay - when the world is falling apart around you at least you have the wherewithal to photograph your brilliant hair with rainbow nails. Seriously, I love that photo.
The new colours on the map should have been plaid and paisley - everyone already feels like crap in the heat. Plus, it's mad-damn hot, way beyond any sense.
Now - your shack still stands - hoorah!!! And it shall put up a mighty fight. Good luck on your retrieval mission. I worry for you. Carry your excellent stamp with you at all times. I'm sending you more hugs than you can imagine. And when you cry your fucking head off, make sure you do it fucking LOUD. More hugs.

Darling, I hope your shack is safe right now. And I hope your brain isn't rebelling too much. You look gorgeous at 6am. Hope the stalker nutjob fucks the fuck off. Get men to answer your phone if there's any handy when he rings. That seems to work. I really hope everything is ok. Just think of all the greats who have puked in the parliament building before you.

Kat said...

Oh you poor thing! Not a fun start to 2013. I'm thinking of you and your little shack. Hopefully that fire moves away and mr stalker gets the pictures and f*cks off!

Stay strong Sarah and continue to be careful I really hope your home and precious irreplaceable photos are safe. I'm still saying a bunch of powerful prayers and doing my special rain dance just for you.

I have never had a stalker I guess it's because you are a celebrity.

Take care!

birdmonkey said...

Do you have a smart phone? Black list his number and there is an app called sms blocker by optinno it is free and you can keep any creepy texts as a log to show the police if needed. What I do with all my stalkers.

hey and props for the spew in the Parliament house!! It was probably unpleasant at the time but the stuff of legends later. I guess your job requires you to take that place seriously but it has total street cred value.

Good news that the shack still lives! And you look darn cute at 6AM, no matter how you really feel. When you cry, may your tears put out the fires and also clear your soul.

Vintage Bird Girl said...

This really does sound like the week from hell. I'm so sorry you've had to deal with so much. I do hope you can get over to the shack to pick up any precious items. The thought of that freaks me out because I wouldn't know where to start apart from photos, & I have a TON of them. It's so darn hot here today that as soon as you move you break out sweating. Hopefully this will all be over soon. Xx

Oh Honey....If I had my own jet I'd be over there in a minute to rescue you and your stuff, or stay and cry with you on the couch, whichever you prefer. I cannot imagine coping in that freaking unbelievable temperatures - we get cranky if it's in the 30's more than a few days. I've been thinking about you all week, which sounds like it should just have a big "FUCK OFF" sign pasted over it.
If you're going to throw up, it might as well be in Parliament HOuse. Don't put up with the stalker bullshit - report him to the police and stay safe, but if you have a chance to kick him in the balls without you getting hurt, go for it. Stay safe, and well, and keep us posted.

I hope you're okay Sarah, it sounds like you just have way too much stuff to deal with for one person right now, though you still manage to look gorgeous at 6am with no makeup if that's any consolation. At least your stalker has good taste but seriously, I would be freaked right out by that, love the idea of you going all ninja on him if he annoys you any more, but I hope he just gets out of your life. Hope everything is okay with your home too and that you got all your photos, that's the possession I'd be most worried about too, I always mean to organise a fire/emergency drill for my photo collection. And I love your response to that ticket, I don't swear much but in my head I'm saying that so often these days! Really wishing for you that all this will pass, and admiring your sense of humour in the face of it all. xx
