How fabularse is this gorgeous 1970s frock?
I picked her up at an op shop last week for $5.
Apparently op shops are running low on
stock and are desperate for donations.

It's a good work frock but I'm not impressed with these dull pics - I need COLOUR!
What was I thinking???
Also, I am over this business of having to plan ahead and lug weeks worth of outfits around with me... something's gotta give...
I'm tired and getting cranky!

What a great frock...the pattern is fabularse! And your accessories make the whole outfit sing to me!!! You don't need colour when you look that good in black & white! Xx
Fabul-frickin' arse indeed! I do love you in monochrome, the dress is the business but maybe that belt could be replaced with a red one? God, who do I sound like, Gok Wan!?
My local chazzas are very low on stock at the moment, I blame the recession and those skanky cash for clothes outlets spring up everywhere. Once the rain of biblical proportions stops I've got a huge bag stuffed with donations.
Love you more than $5 frocks! xxxxx
I'm loving your monochrome look but understand what a pain in the arse having to plan a week's outfits in advance would be.
xx
Oh don't be tired and cranky - that's my job! I would really struggle with the wardrobe planning, you have been doing a marvellous job, but I can understand how it would get to be a pain in the arse...
Anyway - yay to Op Shop Week and supporting these wonderful establishments, and charity/thrift shops, whatever the version, all over the world.
I LOVE the frock, I like you all chic and monochrome and matchy-match but a blast of colour (red belt and hair flower and your flowery Docs would be my choice) would be good too. I just can't look at the print on the dress too long as it's sending me dizzy (dizzier...)
Loveylove to you, honey pie! xxxxxx
It's funny to see that this weekend everybody wore black and white including Vix and me! Are we becoming a bunch of cheerleaders that decides the colours to wear during the week like in "Mean Girls" or a sort of psychic cult?
Anyway dull or not I adore this optical combination of color, your dress is great and I especially love the skirt print, it's so peculiar!
The striped flower is brilliant as Helga herself and the earrings and the sunglasses gives an extra glamourous touch to this memorable outfit!
I love you more than Op shopping!!!
I am just cranky - period. Its monday and cold outside.
bright bright bright accessories! The dress looks hot, just stick some colour with it and you'll feel better xxx
What a gorgeous dress!!! I love the monochromeness of it with the flower and earrings!! But I certainly can understand the need for COLOR!!! Maybe a bright belt or cardigan to jazz it up??
{{{{hugs}}}}}
ive been so unlucky in charity shops of late too, and they all have urgent donations required signs!
i love your monochrome look, the flower in your hair is so pretty!
xox
I was wearing black and white on Friday. We must have gotten the memo! That dress is great and I love how the bow matches.
Love the frock! The two different patterns really compliment each other. It seems like our local thrift has been lacking in donations too.
B&W done right, I love this pretty frock on you, the glasses and the big ole bow make it.
I don't blame you for getting tired of thinking ahead, that blows!

Well it's 100% fabulous!
I read about how boatloads of used clothing that doesn't sell in the US get sold to 3rd world countries or burned. But not necess vintage. I hope we treat our fine ol' things with love and care and pass them on to Op Shops. Which I gather are charity thrift stores, right?
Photo-op week is you everyday looking fabularse in vintage.
Don't blame you for cranky. I'm about to pack up the household and live out of a suitcase (not sure for how long) and so NOT looking forward to it.
I love the patterns that come up on Ostia frocks from Tim to time. I understand thevwhole black and white thing, I try to steer away from it mostly because it's just not me. But having said that I always try and pop it with red, yellow and recently tried neon green. You always do a gorgeous job of styling yourself, and you look lovely in this frock the pattern really is cool.
I love the black and white dress/look but can see how you'd feel blah without your characteristic pop of vivid colour - so add a red belt and bling and you;re ready to go!
Wish we had Op Shop Week in the places I've lived - sounds like thrift shop culture flourishes in Australia, I wonder why? xoxo
Oh Sarah, what a glorious dress!
I think the black and white is great, you can accessorise with any colour you please! $5 is a bargain, that's about £2 - I'd struggle to find that good a deal. The charity shops here are always banging on for more donations, but I bet they'd have more stock if they stopped being so picky (within reason)!
I frigging LOATHE having to plan outfits in advance, darling.I feel your pain! But yes, this frock is totally fabu-frickin' divoon! It's not unlike the one I was wearing in yeasterdays post.Osti!Gotta love Osti! I remember their adverts on tele!Black and white rocks, never fails to amke me happy.
Love you more than monchrome!XXXXXXXXXX
Wardrobe planning - ha! HA! oh God, that would be my worst thing ever. I love your sexy test signal picture look, and the hair flower is one of my favourites I think.
xx
What were you thinking? You were thinking about a feck-off converted red bus as an added accessory that's what!!!! It's here, all you have to do is come and get it!!! Then you won't have to worry about planning outfits. You could drive to work in your scanties, have a shower in the bus, step out looking fabulous, have a cozy lunchtime kip, change your outfit again, then feel awesome for the rest of the day. OR ... you could tell work to fuck off, rescue five abused and abandoned dogs, ride off into the sunset with your adorable bed-warmers. Bingo!! No more cranky - you can leave that to the arseholes!! xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxooxxoxo
Wow - I do love this frock - two totally different types of fabric in the same dress? Fab!
Black and white is very unlike you, but I still think it looks rad:)
You are making me googly-eyed - in a good way! Fabulous frock. I thought it was a skirt and top at first. And the decorative radioactive flower in your hair is fabulous!! You cheer me up in this. Your colour is on the inside on this one so B&W still shines. I'm cranky and tired too. Maybe we need some juice.
I have to totally agree with the comment posted directly above me!! How fab would a RED bus be and I can oh so see you doing that. Mind you I quite like option 2!!Work is a necessary evil sometimes. Rob a bank. Become an elderly rich mans play thing (but he has to have a bad cough), or discover something we all need and make shite loads of dollars so you can live a long and happy life doing whatever tickles your fancy!!
It might be monochrome but you would still stand out from the crowd in this outfit Sarah. I love your hair flower and your earrings too, they're so cute. I would hate having to work out my outfits a week ahead, I hate to think of the unco-ordinated mess I would make of it. xx
Digging the contrasting patterns, but it is rather disconcerting to see you without a speck of colour. I was expecting some red shoes, or at the very least, a yummy yellow hair flower!
Happy Op Shop week!
I love this dress! Also, as a They Might Be Giants fan,I love your blog post title.
The outfit I planned last night looked better in my head than on and I was cranky about it all day, because I didn't have time to change. The planning ahead stinks.
It is a nice dress but yes we are use to more colors!
Yeap! It must à drag to pkan ahead outfits , It is a lot of work!
OMG I love love love this look! Fabularse dress indeed! Love the mix of patterns in the monochrome black and white.
planning my whole week's worth of clothes would stress me out. I hate leaving something I love behind at home.
Love, love the dress. How did you know it's 1970's? Sometimes when I see something I know is older, I wish you were there so I could ask "oo! When is this from??" You're far more knowledgeable.
I've got a weak heart & I might get around, get around
I actually really dig this black & white look! The frock is fabulous - I love a good crazy monochrome! I reckon it would look great with some bright accessories too.
this 70s dress is -awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww- so gorgeous!
I love the op-art print on your dress - it's lovely. I could never plan outfits ahead like that. It takes me long enough to decide what to wear on the day!
