I am gonna make it through this year if it kills me

2011 rocked...

it was challenging

some fucked up things happened

I met some quality humans

overcame a massive personal hurdle

a new family member was born

I said goodbye to a few people
and hello to a lot more

I cracked my wounded heart open
made a handful of beautiful new friends

reinvented myself

moved house for the 50th time

and wore some killer frocks...

Today was International Aunty's Day!

My xmas rocked... how about yours?

I was spoiled rotten and received: 

A first edition paperback of The Abortion: A historical romance 1966 by Richard Brautigan

Yeah! I made it myself and Lovely things to make for girls of slender means by Eithne Farry

A bottle of my favourite perfume, Samsara (I've been wearing it for 20 years!)

A beautiful deep crimson silk scarf 

An amazing ring - hand painted by my super talented brother 

A fabulous leopard print overnight bag 

Some geek gadgets, chocolates and lovely bits n pieces... 

Delightful! 

As the new year looms, I've been looking back 

through a year of posts and a few faves...

LEOPARD PRINT

A perennial favourite, I treat it as a neutral. 

It puts a boom-chicka-wa-wow in my walk and makes me feel invincible.

YELLOW

I've said it before and I'll say it again: 

You CAN wear yellow. You just haven't found the right shade yet...

And when you do it will chase the black dogs from your door.

BLACK AND WHITE

Always a favourite, I crave it... it grounds me. It brings me closer to Helena Bonham Carter, somehow... it makes me feel sophisticated, even when I am clearly not! 

RED

My lifelong favourite. My first love. 

I wear it when I'm tragic or delirious. Heartbroken or smitten kitten. 

It's an exclamation mark, a comma, a cheeky hello, a hell no and a see-you-later.

BFF Ada, doing sensible, grown up, mature,  

christmassy things... 

like mauling each other with a plastic arm, 

talking to the baby magpie

and doing tyrannosaurus arms in her garden. 

Normal!

And so this is christmas eve. 

 

I hope you are all well and happy, wherever you are. 

 

I hope you have people who love you, good health, plenty of food,

Another xmas miracle... seriously...

Today I picked up the best thing I've ever found in an op shop...

A new friend!

So now I have a friend in the actual town where I live 

and she's a crafty, vintagey, fabulous, dog-lovin' uberbabe - yay!

Xmas Miracle

Last night I had the most fantastic dream...

 Princess Leia, Virgin Mary and Carrie Fisher 

were all hanging out at my gate, 

which was some sort of holy grotto, 

doing miracles and making salsa!

 

 Testify!

My love for Carrie Fisher, Princess Leia and kitsch religious junk  

is well documented, as is my atheism (and my love for salsa).

 

Here she is in the grotto, ready to perform her first miracle...
