I find it hard to resist a challenge...

So when Vix showed us

I went searching through my wardrobe.

Op shops are not nearly so cheap over here as they seem to be in Vix's neck of the woods
and a five pound outfit seemed impossible...

and then I remembered my fabulous Estate Auction $1 robe

The hair flower was a gift from my darling sister in law

The fab Barry M nailpolish was a gift from Vix

The 1940s pearl clip on earrings were 10 cents

So this outfit cost $1.10

But it is definitely the exception - and it's not even really an outfit as it is another ROBE!

Do you think I could wear it as a dress?

Maybe with a belt and some shoes it might look more like a dress.

(I know... will I ever wear shoes again?)

Thought you'd like to see my delightful paint-splattered-overalls collection

Ruffles and roses

Hills hoist! Weeds! Shed! The glamour!

And look! Lovely Em (Vintage Sweetheart) sent me a parcel of gorgeous fabrics
for my patchwork curtain project - she also included a pretty fabulous item of clothing
(which will feature in a future post). Thank you, Em!
(She's currently fabbing around New York, doncha know!)

If you took it up to knee length it would just look like a quilted wrap dress, definitely a proper outfit! Isn't the print on it glorious xx

Fabulous Darling just sent you an email xxx Oh and I want to knoww what skin products you use your skin is divine xx oh and that could be a dress just like my red house dress could be a dress trouble is we could run into the former owner and they may shout hey that looks just like my old dressing gown I donated lol

Oh, Nelly is so right! The shame!!

How did you have the foresight to have 3 pairs of overalls? Are you secretly a painter'n'decorator?;)

Love the Mr Owl and Sistah combo - are you still unpacking all these delights? x

That's me, that is!! You could so wear that divine wrap as a dress, it's gorgeous, a red patent belt and shoes would work brilliantly. What a bargain, you look astoundingly gorgeous.
Yay to Vintage sweetheart and her generosity. Love, cheapclothes&dungareesxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

I am thinking with Penny on the robe. I would shorten it and add a belt and no one would know it had a former life as a robe. I love it! -T

I say it totally works as a dress - just make sure you wear pants would be my advice. I'm really not sure I could do this challenge, unless barefoot and bottomsless!

Penny Dreadful's idea about knee length is a good one. You are now a barefoot hippy. And Angry Owl made me laugh.

I think that robe totally works as a dress, with or without shoes. It looks really good on you, and I wouldn't have guessed it was a robe, and not a wrap dress if you hadn't said. Also loving your paint-splattered overalls!
